As time goes by and music styles and bands change, Big Muff 68 puts the crap where it belongs and delivers solid stoner rock, or swing metal, that will not go off style or be hung on bad trends. With feet solidly planted in several groovy and heavy genres of metal and hard rock, BM68 are sure not let you down.

The band started out as a project between long time partners in crime Dolby Surround and Ron Dongery, back in 1999. The gruesome twosome are known for their many collaborations in the past. They are also known for their ruthless devotion to innovative thinking, and are by many hailed as an accolade to the local metal scene. After the recording of the two tracks “A hey hey” and the epic “God Damn” the same year, listeners were ecstatic. The duo realized that the band had potential far beyond any prior expectation, so finally, in late 2000, a decision was made to form the Band Big Muff 68.

Though there were many contestants to the open spots, Dongery and Surround didn’t really have a hard time picking out the right pieces to the puzzle. left to right: Chris Bartender, Max Output, Rock Steady, Ron Dongery and Dolby Surround
Chris Bartender, who was renowned in the local metal scene for his balls-to-the-walls drumming and extreme high-octane performance, was a sure bet. The timing couldn’t be better, as Bartender himself was looking for a band that could complement his need for groove and riffing excellence! As anticipated, rehearsals were a success.

Hunk Handy, the human rumble pack with looks of a ton of bricks, was no stranger to the now threesome. His sturdy live performance and bass skills have always fascinated and craved respect among people. His distinct and angry sound has become a vital part of the Big Muff experience, as well as claiming stronghold on the Big Muff attitude.

The lineup would initially tee off as a foursome, with Surround doing the vocals and guitars. As rehearsals progressed, it became apparent that the vocals would crave a lot more from Surround than earlier anticipated. A need for a second guitarist emerged, and again, the choice was simple.

Max Output had met with Surround after a gig he had played with another band. Surround became a huge fan of the band, and a friendship grew. When asked if he would join, Output hesitated, worrying that the music would not fit him. After one visit to the rehearsals, however, he was blessed.

Max Output contributes to an outstanding ooze of raw power and intense tightness, that is needed to rock the stone! He was also looking for a band with a no-nonsense attitude, that doesn’t beat around the bush, and that isn’t afraid to give fornication and promiscuity a name! He had now just found it! Big Muff 68 was complete…

With this intensely heavy lineup, Big Muff 68 is ready to kick some serious ass! As the band states: “It’s time to oil the ol’ machine!” What that’s supposed to mean, remains to be seen. One thing is absolutely clear though; Big Muff 68 is definitely “Up & Cuming”!
